Depiction of the Bodhisattva Maitreya. This is a representation of the Buddha of contentment and abundance. The monks dress the statue every morning, and leave it with a fresh lotus bud. People who wish to offer a prayer buy a small piece of gold leaf from the monastery and apply it to the statue.
