The Grand Bazaar is one of the largest covered markets in the world with more than 58 streets and 4,000 shops. The bazaar was first constructed in 1455. It was enlarged in the 16th century, during the reign of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent, and in 1894 underwent a major restoration following an earthquake. These beautiful glass lights were one of the items that were on sale in many of the shops. They gave the market a wonderful festive atmosphere.
