 Etretat full-moon-set

I was in Etretat, in October 2006, a small fishers town by the Manche, between France and England. It is a place which attracted all the big famous painters of the XIXth century : Monet, Gericault, Isabey, Valotton and many many more had to do once in their life a "falaise d'Aval" with the hole and the small island in the shape of a needle. At 7:00 AM, I went on the tiny pebles-beach to admire this unique Full-Moon-Set. The colors were a full miwed-range of light pink, orange, naples yellow, silver, light cold blue, light turquoise, with gorgeous skies. I understand now why this place is so famous among painters, it is not really because of those rather dull cliffs, okay, they have strange shapes, but they are made of dirtyish ocre-yellow clay, what is stricking are those unbelievible skies. I inovated a new technique, with first : the drawing, made with a tube which imitate the lead in stained-glass, then later, when dry, I paint as usual, but the drawing underneath stayed and gave it a bone stucture. It is so much fun painting again, and in such a beautifull place.
