A Brief history of Time - Looking at all these 'Old Timers', beautiful Street Clocks and the ones hanging from the Vintage Buildings of Chicago, you will have a 'Great Time'. These precision engineered mechanisms housed in the beautiful ornate casing, as in this picture, are the permanent fixtures on the major Chicago Architectural Landmarks. This 6 ton clock overhanging the Wacker Drive from 35 East Wacker Drive Building, originally known as the Jewelers Building, a 40 story structure was designed in the mid twenties by Joachim Glaver and Frederick Dinkelberg. Outside of New York City this building was the tallest structure back then. I have walked under this clock, this monstrous beauty, thousands of times yet have always looked at it with the same fascination as the first time.
