This beautiful flower covers woodland floors in Britain in the spring. It is a member of the hyacinth family and its small white bulbs contain starch which was used to stiffen the elaborate ruffs worn by gentlefolk in Elizabethan times.
Hi Jane
Time to order some more cards, buebells have always been a favourite - bluebell woods in different places at different times of my life!! Pam Thorn
Artist Reply: Thanks for all your praise Jerry - I'm glad that other people enjoy looking at my drawings. Your work I think though is far more skillful than mine! Well done with all your detailed portraits etc - they are excellent. Jane
Artist Reply: Thank you - I love the wonderful shade of blue in these flowers and this inspired me to draw them. I can never hope to get close to the beauty of the real thing though - I just hope it helps to get others looking more closely at nature and realising how marvellous our world actually is. Jane
Artist Reply: Thanks again - I think it is the gorgeous blue flowers of the bluebell that made me want to draw it. Nature is so wonderful - you can never hope to get close to the fantastic detail each petal & stem has in real life but it is fun to try!
