For this portrait, I used a plasma pencil. It seems to be a cross between ink, and pencil. Graphite pens are about the same as these, but they have a coarser texture to them. Or perhaps I should say they apply more roughly. I have learned that you must blend a large area somewhat quickly on non-porous paper with plasma pencils. I don't know about more porous paper yet. This is my favorite picture of Stanley Ketchel.
