A 4-8-4 "Northern" type locomotive, #2903 was among the Santa Fe Railroad's famous "2900" class. Built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during World War II they were the heaviest "Northern" type locomotive ever built weighing in at over 510,000 lbs. This due to the limited availability of lightweight materials during the war.
