Josephine Baker was barely more than a child when she left the life of poverty she lived in St. Louis, MO. Off she went to Paris,France, and became the sultry dancing seductress, that was to be her vehicle to fame and fortune, then to near poverty in her declining years. She and her husband adopted many, many children of all nationalities. When all funds were spent, her husband left herafter spending his family fortune in order to help support Josephine's unceasing desire to adopt more children.
