My first Still Life!
8'x10' (20.3x25.4cm)
The eggplant (known as AUBERGINES
in Europe) with its elegant pear shape
and shiny, smooth, purple skin, is according to me
one of the most attractive vegetables.
In
America it is almost more appreciated
as table decoration than as a food.
Aubergines come in a wide range of
shapes, sizes and colors, which makes
them an outstanding edible landscape
plant.
A newer variety (called Japanese
eggplant) is long and thin, resembling
the zucchini.
The colors range from white to
lavender to deep purplish-black
(almost jet-black) as well as pale
green, pale violet, yellow, and reddish.
There are even some striped varieties.

Acrylic on a stretched canvas
with gallery wrapped edges over wooden
frame.
Painted staple free sides.
(doesn't need
framing.)
I framed it though in a warm
walnut-golden frame.
It's a beautiful duo, the AUBERGINES
and the GRAPES together!
