Portrait of Evelyn, in celebration of five years clear of cancer after her mastectomy. She wants to show she is not as disfigured as people imagine her to be, and this was painted to aid stigma removal associated with mastectomy and to give hope and reassurance to women who may face mastectomy.

Evelyn is my best friend of many years. She is a strong and unique woman. She is admirable in myriad ways, plus beatiful inside and out. I found this portrait to be educational, as I had never seen a mastectomy scar. Your eye focuses on her face; as you study it, you see her spirit, intelligence, humor, and personal dignity and power. To know Evelyn is to love her. To know Heath is to admire her and appreciate her talent, her compassion, her loving heart. Heath embraces life...ALL of it! Congratulations and thank you to you both. All my love, Joy Allen Lopez Island, Washington, U.S.A.Anonymous Guest 18 Dec 2008

Very moving for me. Teresa, my mother, had a terrible adenocarcinoma. She suffered a mastectomy / hysterectomy. Doctors gave her ONE MONTH of life; and she LIVED STILL 12 YEARS, until 74 years old. My mother was a courageous and funny woman. Her personality helped. Excellent tribute. Very moving, very moving...corry stuart 20 May 2006
