Blue Bird

This is a lovely blue bird I came across one day. So pretty and singing a cheerful song. I used a wacom tablet (hooks to my computer-a art tablet) to paint this bird from a blank canvas. I used PainterIX software. I used the soft grainy water brush, air brush, a little water color, and some pastels to get this look. I also used a lot of blending tools.

This is beautiful, Terry!!

Artist Reply: Thank you Nancy! THere are many of these Mountain Bluebirds around my new home to my surpize! I am getting some bird feeders set up and a birdbath, and planning out a large garden so I can photograph them and get soem painting inspirations for new works. So far they have discovered my car side mirors and keep landing on them to look at themslves. It's comical, but I d have to clean the car mirrors off a lot now. The home I bought was used a few times a year for vacations, so the birds aren't used to having people around. They are finding me amusing so far as they do tend to land nearby when I'm outside and watch me.

Delicate work is your best so far Terry.

Artist Reply: Thank you Donald. I like changing up what I work on. I like expaning and challing myself to try more subjects. My portrait works are one result of challenging myself. Learning to do my art again by using digital art forms on my own another. I learn something new everyday, and never get loss for inspiration.

This is so lovely...soft and sweet...you have a wonderful technigue and charming choice of subjects...I love blue birds. Thanks for stopping in to look at my phto of the bird...some people think it is cheating when you use computer filters on phtos...I don't....it is all art... just in another form...it took me a while to make my bird phto look like that...went through allot of color manipulations and took a fair amount of time to add the flares...Thanks for liking that work...It was fun to make too...I would love to see what you try with yours...give me a notice when you upload some...have a Wonderful day, Terry. It has been fun talking with you...lots of love to you. Sincerely CB

Artist Reply: Tahnks so much Christine! I love that art makes so many new friends. If I can figure out what you do with those amazing filters, well, right there with you! Your art is not average, but fantasitic! It taskes cleverness, imagination, and skill. You didn't get that kind of result by just a click or two. It wouldn't matter if you had! I was truly amazed at the work. Love it! So much beauty in it! Really cool, you took it up a notch or two. I love playing with the effects and filters and am just really beginning to look into it. Art is a creation that some one reacts to, and hopefully, enjoys, yours does that. Made my mind start spinning, and I'm sure others will when they look at it. Forget the art snobs that are haters. Jealous they didn't think of it first! LOL! Look forward to seeing yours and others who create, however, as long as I can see and breathe! Will let you know when I go playing and get some results to post. I'm so busy playing with brush nozzles and tools in all the software, it's like I'm in a candy store. Always dreaming of the next one I can get. I don't have to sell art in mass to enjoy it. I'm happy it someone likes it and appreciates it, then I've done a good thing! Keep experimenting!

Oh Terry, you have done a wonderful job here. I have just begun to see bluebirds - this is the loveliest!

Artist Reply: Thank you Emily! If I know you, yyou will soon be posting beautiful photos of them in your gallery as well. Are the robins back out there yet? I do miss them and the Baltimore Orioles, If I go to some of the lakes and preserves out in my state, I may see migrating birds, like a robin. We get some beautiful birds to our state.

PMyers 26 Mar 2006

Soft and lovely. The the way you do these.

Artist Reply: Thank you! WHen I first started to paint like this my wonderful husband looked and said, "Don't you think it's a bit blurry?" LOL! Oh, well, he's not into art that much. THere are certain types of art he loves, much he doesn't get. I don't mind. I have otheres, like you, that make up for it! THanks so much!

Laura Smith 26 Mar 2006

So beautiful. Love the complimentary background colors. Looks like he's about to fly away!

Artist Reply: Thank you! Bluebirds do brighten up your day, so when they do fly away, you tend to watch and hope they come right back! I collect little bluebirds and other bird figurines and sculpture, and galss works. It started when a dear friend left me her collection . A student of mine gave me a surprize gift of one her mother makes out of clay. I so treasure it, it was a perfect gift and outstanding work. I have even more hummingbird items.
