This black man won his freedom by fighting in the Revolutionary War. He was wounded in the battle of the North Bridge.

I like these kind of headstones. The last cople of years Ihave been taking photos of Revelutionary,War of 1812 and Civil War Haadstones and posting them on a website. While researching my mothers side of the family I found an ancestor that was a bodyguard to George Washington down in Newburgh while he came up with the Idea of the Purple Heart and a little over 160 years later my father would recieve 2 during the Battle of the Bulge. This year marks 100 years that my grandfather immigrated from Poland to the U.S..Needless to say this photo made me reflect.
