This is the first stage of a commission for a repeat client. At this stage the tree is made from clay. Then I will make a mold of the tree, and finally I will press homemade paper into the mold.
The first time I did this it was difficult. I fear I may have destroyed this tree by attempting the mold, so this may be the only record there is of it....Win some...loose some!
The tree is from some images my client found on the internet. When I contacted the owner of the site in Kenya, they told me they knew the palm as an ilala tree. In my research I discovered that an alcoholic drink is made from the nut...hence..lalalala...
Clay 24" x 36" (Or possibly broken into bits...)
