flashback....#1

I thought it might be fun to flashback on some events in my life via pictures from my extensive photo library. Let me know if this gets boring. Leslie is a pilot for Hawaiian Airlines and was kind enough to offer to model the new Tee shirt design that I traded Gold's Gym for a membership. The surf break right in front of the gym was excellent, so many times I would break off my gym workout to paddle out into the sea for an even better workout.

Great photos - especially the middle one-

Artist Reply: yeah, well as you can see, I am sitting out there with my little watercamera strapped to my back when I decided to snap this off. The longboard is a 9ft 2 " thruster shape designed by a north shore shaper and coordinator of the Pipeline Offshore Masters Event. I wanted a classic board so I airbrushed it to resemble inlaid koa strips. Its still there, sitting over a tiki bar in Hawaii Kai.

Gold's Gym got a fantastic deal with your design! Great photos.

Artist Reply: Viv, love your foggy morning photo...it really had an impact on me. Love it alot.
Artist Reply: well it took me about three hours and they extended my membership for a second year...so I think I got the best end of the stick! they have two terrific clubs there in Honolulu and I was in the best shape of my life during that time.

I was a landlocked kid as well never saw the ocean until 1981 but surfing looks like a lot of fun. Where were these taken? in Hawaii? Never heard of Black Point...

Artist Reply: Black Point is is a private enclave of homes on the south shore of Oahu, Hawaii. Although in the last few years it has become an increasingly popular spot to surf, it is also quite dangerous, as the reef is very shallow and the paddle out is through large rocks. If the surfer mistimes their attempt to enter the water...they end up on the rocks.

Nice shots John.

I enjoyed the "flashbacks"..... looks like fun. I used to "surf" on big waves in Lake Michigan as a kid, poor landlocked person that I have always been!

Artist Reply: I would love to see pictures of large surf on Lake Michigan...that would be neat.

lol nice flashbacks, I did the surfing thing but even in my best days the body of the girl was not mine, lol. (I was the "cute" one)

Artist Reply: yes... I wish I could do it more often, now that I am landlocked inland. It is the sport of kings.
