This is a 29"x 41" watercolor or the Lockport fives not long before they were converted to two larger locks to accomodate the increased traffic on the Erie Canal.
A marvelous work, Stanton... the details are always accurate perspectively speaking... I cannot vouch for historically as I was not alive then and you, I imagine were not either! How lovely to see a painting of Lockport where my great-grandfather lived and I have visited many times. Your dramatic skies are just superb!

Oh wow! How beautiful is that! Life was simpler back then and the little, simpler things in life made life fun and interesting.
