Les Estelles Sud

very hard to say what this is about, maybe I should leave it to you, the discerning viewer! The title is from an old Farmhouse that I stayed at in the Luberon hills of France. It had an enclosed courtyard and was made entirely of dry stone dyking. This work is watercolour and gouache on cartridge paper, about A3 in size.

Wonderful Composition..... One is definitely drawn into the scene to find out its' meaning..... I like the way there is the theme of the star repeating itself in different ways..... it all works together so well..........You have a Fantastic Style which is unique.....

Hello Iain! How are you? The Luberon is a lovely place and it obviously touched you. This is a very joyous painting. Looks like people are having fun and it makes me feel really cheerful. I had to smile when it downloaded. Brilliant!

Iain, your paintings always catch my attention just a little bit longer than most because they all tell a story. Actually as you say, each viewer can have his own and that is such an important and strong quality for a painting. In this I like the repetive triangles, the way you have anchored your frame with a nut and bolt. The woman in the window looking out on to the figure departing in the boat can just have so many different meaning. Your colors and composition are strong and yes, this is another outstanding painting.

This appears to be stream of consciousness but there is a message here that is not immediately evident. Beautiful brushwork lain
