Descending Dragons (the

Papercutting/scherenschnitte done with razor blades. Framed separately but cut together. My most ornate cut dragons to date, the boys have traveled a bit, and now reside comfortably in a wonderful collector's home, flanking the family's fireplace. Each spine in each scale has been lovingly ;-) pulled up to add even more dimension and depth to the twins.

Love the colors and the reflective image... this piece has an ancient feel to it. Outstanding...

Artist Reply: Thank you, Sandy. I tried to keep tradition in mind as I designed them.

Oh how cool these are....very nice indeed!

Artist Reply: Thanks so much, Chris! Maybe next month I'll get to post my Greenman--I'm very fond of him, too.

I love these dragons! And the fact that they are cut out with razor blades makes them even more special! Each spine is pulled up? That would be wonderful to see in person! Great job!

Artist Reply: Thanks, Diane! Yep, the twins came out nicely in the photos, but in person you can see so much more detail with the speckled black papers and the subtle shadows of the spines--that's why I always encourage people to really look closely at papercuttings.

Gemini. Reminds me of that...Their design and composition are beautiful.

Artist Reply: Thank you, Nancy--I pulled an all-nighter in order to get the boys done on time before displaying them in Atlanta. I hadn't done the all-nighter bit since college, so I was certainly in dire need of coffee the next morning--didn't dare drink any during cutting or gluing!
