Another famous rock area in New Zealand is located at Punakaiki, on the northwestern side of the South Island. The Pancake Rocks are an impressive formation of limestone and mudstone layers that have weathered into what appears to be huge stacks of pancakes. In this photo the light of the setting sun has crept into the lens and created the yellow atmosphere. I have a better photo which I used for my book Earth Tones, but it is currently with a photo agency in Tokyo. Minolta 801si alpha, 100-300mm lens, Fujichrome Velvia, no filter, no colour manipulation. Copyright Peter Skov.
