Of course you are worthy Katrina, this is wonderful, just how did you keep the white area so clean?
Congratulations dear for a well deserved win. *Hugs!*

Artist Reply: THANK YOU! The way I keep the white so clean is to draw, spray, draw, spray, on and on until I get it right then the last layer I do not spray, I also laminate the picture I am working off of and put it under my hand so I don't smudge, I blow off the dark/light charcoal as I go. The spray I use, and spray lightly is "Clayboard" fixative, matte finish.
Congratulations! This is a beautiful work of art. Your charcoal is so beautifully blended, and the white is sooo soft and pure. Great expressions on these two!
Artist Reply: I did too, for a child like this and such a wonderfull Santa(and he was the best I have ever seen) I got a lot of very good shots. Thank you!
What a wonderful piece and for a great cause. I applaud you.
Artist Reply: Thank you for your wonderfull comment but the applause goes to this great Santa, the people who work with these children, and I have to stress the fact that I am so honored they think I am worthy of the photo shoot or the drawing! I was almost overwhelmed to the point of tears that they would ask me at all. They love these special children so much so to ask me is indeed an honor like no other. To want me to submit a drawing.......I could never get it good enough, never.
fantastic work! Don't see detail like this often with charcoal.
Artist Reply: coming from someone who does such great work I am honored, very, thank you! I am resubmiting this piece, the picture I put on here was not the one I intended. Too dark and not what it actually looks like so it you see it again that is why.
Artist Reply: Thank you very much, this picture does not do it justice. It is already gone but I am sure I posted the wrong picture, this one is far darker than the original.
Katrina,
This is such a Christmas memory. So well done your style and execution it delivers the view into that time period perfectly. Thank you, Mike.
PS What is Santa saying to the young boy about wanting a Red Rider B.B. Gun for CHristmas?, "Hey KId, You'll Shoot Your Eye Out!!!!"
Artist Reply: thank you for your wonderfull comment, I took this photo shoot for hundreds of handicapped children with this wonderful santa and they ask for all the same things when they could, I was awe struck at the way they are the same, just different ways of functioning, truely a learning exsperience for me!
