Sweeping Late Afternoon Light on the Otago Peninsula. This, the eleventh in my New Zealand landscapes series is the companion painting to the previous listing, "The Yard" - Both from subjects found at the base of Mount Charles out of Dunedin. This was quite late in the day with the sun very low on the horizon. The sheep were dotted about everywhere and the odd straggler came wandering by looking for a green grassy snack. What really interested me was the meandering farm track and loading ramp, another symbolic structure that seems to resonate with the history of what it has witnessed and the lives of all those little passengers who have traversed that ramp, nervously following each other to an unknown future. 2005 Oil on Canvas Panel 10"x 8"
