A preliminary drawing for a pastel portrait...but I kind of like it as is! He's a Lab/Rhodesian Ridgeback cross. You can really see the Rhodie influence. He was an animal shelter rescue and is quite the fearsome protector for his family. Yesterday, he protected them from a turtle AND the umpire at a baseball game (seems he didn't like it when strikes were called). As an aside, he lives with Pete, Shasta and Mini, who are also on here.

Melissa, this is amazing! I like it 'as is' too. Very realistic, and he looks like a proud dog. I love the depth in his eyes, the wet nose, and cute mouth. Amazing job!
