The “Statue of Liberty” is a colossal sculpture of a robed & crowned woman on Liberty Island (part of New York City) in New York Harbor. This copper-clad statue was a gift to the United States from the people of France & designed by French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, but the internal metal framework was built by Gustave Eiffel.
