Lana Korolievskaia. “In the Cage”. Cardboard, ink. 64x90 cm. 2026. The graphic work depicts a girl with wings placed inside an enclosed space resembling a light, almost transparent structure. Its boundaries do not appear threatening, yet they remain insurmountable. Birds freely pass through the lines of the cage, unaware of its existence. Their movement is natural and continuous, like the breathing of the environment. The heroine, however, stays inside, even though she possesses what is usually considered the condition for flight. The wings do not become an exit. They exist as a possibility that does not coincide with reality. The work speaks of a state in which space is open but the path is closed; where the sky is visible but unreachable; where freedom exists as an image, but not as an action.
