The origin of the word “Jeep” is difficult to verify. The most widely held theory is from its military designation (GP- for Government or General Purpose). The slur (jeep) is the same way the word “Humvee” comes from (HMMWV- for High-Mobility Multi-purpose Wheeled Vehicle).

Description sounds legit enough, I mean GEICO used to be for Gov employees only. Government Insurance Employee Company or something like that, now we know what that actually stands for and comes from. Why lizard, lol? Nice image just the same, sometimes we need illustrations right?
