I wonder if Johan Vermeer's teenage model answered her cell phone differently than a teeny-bopper of today? Some (not all) art history junkies may think this is a trick question related to the declining interest in high school art appreciation classes. Re-positioning time and technology into picture frames of human nature can be seen as uncomfortable, so a large sea shell and string may be the safer slapstick image suitable for many TV media talk show audiences of today.
