Now that I have more time, I think back over my life and wonder if I'd turned left a few times at pivotal moments, maybe things would have turned out differently. Of course, I also wondered if I'd gone shopping in the opposite direction just before my accident, whether my life would be somewhat better as I enter another year. These thoughts are very common, I'm sure. But not very helpful. One could fall into the trap of endless regret and what-if's and never get out. This is an 8 by 6 inches gel pen and charcoal pencil drawing on medium bond acid-free paper. Original Jones Art continues to sidestep the usual mental pitfalls in northwest Austin, Texas.

Some have it striped, Yours checkered. No idea which way is better - the problem is the size, I think. Hope your life is smooth at the start of the year.

Artist Reply: Well, traditionally, those in prison wore stripes over here, Nikolay. And, as you can see, a lot of my characters are partially striped as well---maybe only partial prisoners? Maybe the worst shackles are those we give ourselves. Stay well and safe. :)

Hey Charles I've always loved that phrase. Great work as usual.

Artist Reply: Ha! Now the site is back up---and so soon. As you may have noticed, John, I love playing with colloquialisms and idioms that have worked their way into our everyday language. They are grain for the gristmill of my mind, you might say. Hope all is good for you. :)

You get some very nice lines with your gel pen . May have a go with one of those someday . Very nice rendering and the charcoal pencil adds dimension Hope you're having a good week Charles : )

Artist Reply: I've been using them since they came on the market, Dave. Unlike the old ballpoint pens, like the Bic, that I used n the long ago, the gel goes on without blobs and is very lightfast, meaning it won't fade out after a few decades. At least that is what my research leads me to believe. Hope your week is going at least as good as mine. If I were a generous man, I'd say maybe better. :)
