New Year's parties used to be about welcoming/celebrating the coming of a new yearly cycle. Now, and I suspect it has been for some time, it's just an excuse to over imbibe. As in everything, it depends on your viewpoint and, perhaps, your ability to see just a wee bit into the future. This is a 6 by 4.5 inches gel pen with charcoal pencil drawing on medium bond acid-free paper. As Original Jones Art won't be partying in northwest Austin, Texas, he must stay occupied.

Our Christmas is January 7th, Charles. The last night was one of the quietest in my life:)))/ Secret? Went to be at 21:30 and skipped night boozing.

Too modest in color yet abundant in expression.I'll never get away from having a tiny secret hope that the New year will be better than the going one. Enjoy the last few days and get ready for a n inflow improvements, Charles

Artist Reply: Thanks, Nikolay! Yes, 'new years' and 'old years' become indistinguishable over time---if you live long enough and are something more than a vegetable. These last few days 'could' be the calm before the storm. Like you, I harbor a little hope that it won't be. Hope you had a nice Christmas. :)

Some people call it "amateur night" where many will over do it and then have a rough start to the new year . I like the background on this one and it looks as though bird chin is making an entrance ... maybe to warn people to slow down a bit : ) Hoping your end of the year is a good one, Charles : )

Artist Reply: I stopped overdoing the 'festivities' in the 80's. The toilet bowl and I were getting a little too chummy, Dave. Like you say, a good monochromatic image can make a nice statement, so I dug out the charcoal pencil. I thought with his eyes, color might be too much for him. :)
