Looking through my old 70's notebook, I found this. It didn't have a date on the front so I guesstimated and put '74. When I turned it over to put on the scanner I found 'fall of '73' on the back---so I was close. The paper has a yellow-brownish tone to it now. I don't know if that is original or the product of age. It also didn't state it is of Milton, but that collar narrows the field quite a bit. I was using Bic pens in school and so this is probably done with one of those. It measures roughly 8.5 by 7 inches on probably less than acid-free paper. Original Jones Art, digging out the old stuff in northwest Austin, Texas.

Awesome Portrait Awesome Charles

Artist Reply: I stumbled across my attempts at Keats and Byron other day, Ray. Maybe I'll upload them soon. I like the Milton portrait the best. At least the last time I looked them over. :)

Super work Charles . love the detail and expression . Here's to you, Milton and the new week : )

Artist Reply: This image was based on an image that was based on another. As far as I can ascertain, John was in his 21st year when the first one was created. That was also the age of yours-truly when he attempted this. As Ripley would say, "Believe it or not." Well, weeks ain't what they used to be, so we'll just have to wait and see, Dave. :)

Hey Charley, Old Milton Looks Good, Super!

Artist Reply: I was really into poets at the time, Denny. I also tried my hand at Shelley, Keats, Byron and T.S. Eliot. My HS watercolor work had a portrait of Walt Whitman. One of my oldest and dearest friends remarked recently that he and I were 'nerds' back in the day. If you must to be well-read to be a nerd then I say may Nerds rule the day. But I really don't think I 'fit' the popular definition. Hope you are doing great. :)
