I like the watercolor look of the composition, it has a really good color harmony.
I think that I have never seen a horse with a goatee, and for me that is a detractor to the the artwork, and something I would try to correct.
I als0 think that the ears at the top are to close to the edge of the piece and they would be cut off if it were matted and framed, another thing I would consider correcting, as well.
Overall the majority of the composition works for me.
