Lassen volcano last erupted on May 30, 1914, the activity lasted seven years. The Native Americans tried to warn people, but because there was no tremors or steaming landscape, the Native Americans were ignored. The volcano was thought to have last erupted 27,000 years prior. The Lassen Volcanic National Park was created to prevent human development of the area in the event that the volcano erupts again. Kohm Yah-mah-nee is the Nah-Kan-Koyom Maidum name for the volcano.
