Wonderful reduction to the essential forms - I love the floating head and all that it connotates. What I see here, is a very stable body, firmly rooted, waiting like an empty pedastool for the head to return to it's home. The head floating makes me think that it is in another state of conciousness outside of this plane. A lot of times floating heads can suggest that a person is disconnected from themselves - this actually does NOT make me feel that way. Rather I get the sense of soul travel or meditation. Regardless of my intellectual interpretation, the pure aesthetic beauty of this piece is an glorious dance of color and shape.
i keep seeing this, and i could tell it was you without even seeing the title of this or opening it up: everything is shapes with light falling on it--i can tell that this is what you see, and how you organize.
Artist self portraits are always great. There are two things here, one is a detachement between the mind and body, the other is facelessness. Those are spooky concepts. Nice use of color and well balanced composition.
