The 1963 split window Sting Ray began the second generation of the Chevrolet Corvette for the1963 to 1967 model years. Around the autumn of 1959, two design elements (Q-Corvette & the Sting Ray Special racer) became an experimental project (XP-720) and this design program directly led to the production version 1963 Corvette Sting Ray.
