Amelia Earhart (American, 1897-1937[?]) // “Smoggy” “Trees”, 1936 // Nikon Coolpix L340 Digital Camera, Black || The things in this photo look like trees. But do you really, 100%, truly trust us when we tell you that these objects are, indeed, “trees”? I mean, it’s a photograph, and you didn’t take it. You weren’t there. You don’t know if we actually took a picture of trees, or if we pretended that some other things were trees and took the picture so we could claim it has “trees” in it. Same goes for the “smog.” Maybe the “smog” is just a filter designed to make it look like we took a smoggy photo. Maybe it’s an old photograph that’s dusty or has sun damage or got too close to a fire or something. You have no idea if it’s actually smog, because you weren’t there. We could be telling the truth, but we could be tricking you. You don’t know. And you never will.
