This 48x40 oil on canvas painting is one of my favorites. The tree reminds me of the times as a young man (maybe 10 years old) when I would sit under threes in the spring and summer to watch my father "bush hog" fields on our farm. In the heat of the summer I might sit there eating a dill pickle. We were weekend farmers. During the weekdays we lived in a Holiday Inn where my father (and later my mother) was the Inn Keeper. Those times under the tree are dear to me for my father died when I was only 13. The shade of the tree also reminds me of the peace of God's love for us and His promises to us that act as our sheltering tree from otherwise stressful and sometimes harsh trials and tribulations.
