To Treasure a Memory

Watercolour. 35cm x 50cm. 1984. Still life on my working table that time of my life, done while being a student.
Part of my memories, series of Musical Instruments.

A story from my life.
I was the only girl at school who study to play Saxophone Sophranino, back then at 1973/4. (age 8-9)
At my first year of playing this instrument, for the second concert, I practiced a song, I did not really like... Two- Three days before the concert my teacher, Tehila decided to change the song to a different new song.. Since it seemed I wasn't combined with the first song.
I had to study playing by heart.
At the concert, I was quite excited being one on stage.
After I played the song the audience applaud much... Tehila stopped them for a moment to say : " You did not noticed what this child did while playing... She improvised ... "
I felt quite confused yet.. the audience even applaud some more.. And my parents seemed to be VERY PROUD...
I guess it was the artist in me that found the solution to the excitement I felt.

Back then I played the saxo also in school orchestra, which consist of 6 pupils... We used to performed with the school chorus ... Usually we got first place in contests of Israeli school's choruses.
I guess excitements are still part of me in different ways :-)
I will remember Tehila forever as the BEST music teacher I had ... charming and charismatic.

Thanks for visiting...
