I absolutely LOVE how you captured the magnificent depth of light and shadow in this photograph. I also love how you managed to capture hints of dew/mist/rain/watering on the edges of the petals. You Clearly have been Born with the GIft to see the Beauty, and to capture and share that beauty. Like I have said to so many of my wonderful friends on here, in my opinion the measure of a great photographer/artist is being able to truly tell a story with a photograph. It isn't about "perfect focus on image, the state of the item photographed, the centering of the image, AND the composition..... to me it is really much more about the ability to tell a story with the image (example would be of a photo of a gorilla or other fast moving animals while they are in motion, where the whole photo being in focus doesn't really tell the actual 'story' of what you saw, felt, smelled, heard.... People often dismiss the possibility that an image can convey all of these things. But from my experience, images like Background being blurred while image of a Huge Silver-back Gorilla barreling along is crisp and focused, with rich green backgrounds, and nostrils flared (one of my friends took such a photo, it was the first photo that I experienced the WHOLE even by looking at the image). When you see an image like that, you can hear the 'woof' type of sound they make as they heave in deep breaths while 'running', the sound off the mighty Silver-Back plowing through the undergrowth, the smell the scent of Gorilla AND freshly 'bruised' greenery as he 'crushes' leaves/branches/etc, and feel the raw power, intensity of the presence of such a powerful, intelligent being..... And to see it as well.... when photograph is taken by someone born with the Gift of being able to truly see and capture Beauty, makes it so that you truly experience all of those things, all of the senses somehow manage to feel, to be stimulated and captivated by the power of the image. Anyways, sorry for the extremely lengthy explanation for what I am about to say, but it wouldn't make sense without the lengthy explanation.... You TRULY have the Gift! Looking at this photo of the Rose, I don't just see an image of some random plain rose, I can see and feel the depth through the light and shadow that you captured, I can smell the beautiful, light Perfume of this beauty, Feel the slight dampness still clinging to the air as I see the tiny traces of dew still lightly gracing the edges of the petals. You manage to at once both embrace sharp focus of the flower in total (the flower in general looks very sharply focused, but if you look at the individual petals you can see that they are ever so slightly, gently out of focus, AND a gently unfocused image... creating the physical sensation of 'softness' of the Rose, making an experience of the most wonderfully Soft 'sharpness' of focus. I swear I could reach out and touch and feel the tender, gentle marvelous silky softness of the feel of Silky texture of the petals. All of this adds up to SO MUCH MORE marvelous and intense an experience thaw experience just looking at a 'technically 'flawless' ' highly, sharply in focus, photo of a rose could portray! (sorry, can you tell I am also a writer, image!!!!! This photo is gorgeous beyond all words that I can find to explain it.

Artist Reply: Amy this is the most beautiful comment and compliment I ever received. I really liked what you wrote and pointed out things I do but have not been aware of all that I do to make a photograph what I wish to convey. You really have a deep insight about my intentions in photograph but into the Art of Photography as well. I Thank You so much for taking the time to explain and write this to me. You really have great insight and what you said about the Silver Back Gorilla was most enlightening. I really enjoyed your explanation. I will be looking at work very soon I can't wait to see it now. Thanks Again, Joe
