16" X 20" Oil on Canvas--
This painting was given and dedicated to my daughter Ashley, who is my inspiration for my ballet series. It was always her dream to be on "point"...hence the title.
If you've a shoe fetish, this is the portfolio to go to... ha ha ha. How do you sign your work so beautifully?--
Artist Reply: Olga, Thank you for the humorous response :) To sign: I thin the chosen oil paint with medium (an Old Master mixture of: 1 part Damar Varnish, 1 part Linseed oil and 3 parts Mineral spirits). I then role a # 0 script liner in teh thinned mixure bringing the tip to a fine point. I get about two letters before I reload the brush again. It takes a steady hand...and holding your breath. When I first started, it would take me over 10 trys to get it the way I wanted it to look.
The lighting and shadows are perfect! This is incredibly beautiful! My Ashley continue to inspire you and maybe she reach all of her dreams!
Artist Reply: Thank you very much for this comment and expressing your wishes for my daughter. She excels not only in dance but in academics as well. She was elected Student Body President for her High School, a great accomplishment.
The shapes of positive and negative space, the deep values, and the silky textures give it pleasant abstract qualities as well.
Artist Reply: Yes, having an abstract background, I thought would help to push the slippers forward, being that they were smooth and shiny, along with the complementary colors. Thanks for commenting.
