Love these! I create "curiosities" in jars; that Jerusalem cricket would be a perfect "specimen". :)

My daughter has a huge avacado tree in their backyard in LA; problem is, the fruit is too high to pick and the squirrels feast when they hit the ground.

WOW! This is a great close-up of a very strange creature, indeed, John!!! I don't think I've ever seen one. He's HUGE!!! But in the photo below, isn't that a fake spider?!? I sure hope so....I wouldn't want him in my garden!!!! YIKES!!!

Say hello to him, John! Love crickets when I go southwords where they are numerous in Euorpe., I associate them with summer, heat and vacation, but sometimes at night they can be bothering! Great macros!

So glad he is now in the avocado tree, I had crickets in my house one time and it was awful, get chills when I see them, wonderful photos!

Artist Reply: Yes he was so happy to find a piece of wood to crawl under in soft dirt. They are a little scary at first but they are not mean critters.
