Mako Rush

This painting is currently hanging in Morehead City on the North Carolina coast at Arts & Things. It took me almost 2 years off and on to finish. I just hope I never actually come in contact with an aggresive shark like this while im in the water.....although that would probably give me more ideas for other fish paintings. Id rather not have that experience. Although the painting is very "stylized", for a realists perspective the subject matter is a shortfin mako chasing tuna. If you know anything about tuna, it is great to eat! I like blackened tuna as long as it is fresh. I wanted to incorporate a rush of movement and energy into this painting. I experimented with adding more colors instead of just the blues and greens that predominates the image. It is oil on canvas 5ft by 8 ft P.S. I stretched this canvas by myself. Im never doing one this size again....
