This early morning mountain scene was photographed this December, overlooking Mount Whitney. There is hardly any snow in the mountains this year. The rock formations in the foreground are the Alabama Hills, a series of volcanic rocks that have been uplifted and weathered, creating these fantastic shapes. Image copyright Cher Peterson.
