Neotropic cormorants displaying

photo of several neotropic cormorants in the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore, Maryland- one on the right is doing a bunch of 'displaying' with wings, tail, and head- the one laying down on the right keeps bending its neck back farther than seems possible, and letting out a return call

Amy, Very interesting and well captured images.

THEY LOOK LIKE THEY ARE A TRIO PERFORMING IN THE TOP ONE, AMY. BOTH ARE SUPERB PHOTOS.

Artist Reply: too funny that you should say that. It rather seems like that is exactly like what they were doing (though I bet it had more to do with two different males both trying to impress the female in the middle)

Beautiful shot!

great captures, Amy...the crested caracara throws its head way back until the neck looks broken!

Artist Reply: Yikes... yeah, in some of the other pictures this one was throwing the head back to the point of looking broken too-

Certainly looks as though they were posing specially for you. Great captures, Amy. Well done.

Artist Reply: Nature seems to do that a lot... posing for me. My other half is always teasing me about "showing off" every time nature poses for me- as if I am making it happen
