The Crawford County Courthouse in Van Buren, Arkansas is one of the oldest courthouses west of the Mississippi River. The original one was built in 1842 and rebuilt after it was burned in 1877. The Butterfield Stage Route ran from St. Louis to San Francisco on the main street of the town..Beautiful sculptures of a confederate soldier and a Hebe fountain adorn the landscape..It is an interesting site to visit and gives a glimpse of history. It's clocktower steeple rises above the picturesque town of Van Buren
