Milo of Croton

The strongest man of his time, Milo lived at 6th century BC at the Greek city of Croton (modern Italy). He was six times Olympic victor at all kinds of wrestling. It is said that he led the men of Croton to battle without carying the traditional Greek dori (spear), but armed with a huge olive club like the mythical Hercules. When Crotonian soldiers used the traditional phalanx attack he crashes with his club the enemies, making room for the first rank spears of his army to devastate their opponents.
