"Family Affair" is a composition that is all about a day in the life of a famous American Bald Eagle family. As onlookers we peek into this lush natural setting situated 90 feet up in the air in the Norfolk Botanical Gardens, Virginia to observe family behaviour, especially as it relates to not only their inherent instincts to build a secure nest, but to witness our baby eaglet following Dad’s example. It is also amazing to discover that a mature Bald Eagle is covered in approximately 7000 feathers! Bald Eagle pairs mate for life and use the same nest year-after-year. They add new sticks each season. Eagle nests can reach up to ten feet across and eight feet deep and can weigh several tons! The eggs hatch in 5-6 weeks and the chicks fledge when they are about 12 weeks old. Both parents care for and feed the chicks. They stay with their parents until they are about 20 weeks old. What a magnificent creature God has given this world. When we see a Bald Eagle we automatically think of great strength, power, steadfast and fearless courage. We see them as symbols of freedom and vision with a commanding presence. The Bible uses the eagle as a symbol of strength as well as to encourage His children that as they put their hope and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ they too will be strengthened and soar like eagles. What a comfort to remember these truths when we face trials or dark discouragements in our daily life and service to the Lord. "...Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar...like eagles..." Isaiah 40:31.

Artist Reply: I was just about to write you, but So glad you found the Eagels. Thanks so much for your wonderful words of encouragment. I love what I do and miss painting when I can't get the time. That special "Family Affair" piece just sold last week! I was thrilled, but it was my dear hubby's favourite and so I promised I would paint this again very soon. It was an amazing challenge to get all the feathers just right. Thanks a million. Have a great day. Blessings friend, Jan.
