Island Red

Using 190 weight col-press paper, and grinding a Hematite-Limonite mix, I got this amazing rustic red color, in the illusion of feathers. In searching for a bird withe this rustic red, I came across Island Red. A Flamingo which is naturally white. It gets its pink from eating brim srimp. and is rustic red form eating plankton that has carrot-ton in it. Observing Flamingo's and reading about them has broaden my knowledge of a fantastic Bird.

Exquisite painting!

Artist Reply: Emily, this was a fun mineral art to work. It started out as a, lets see what we get when I stone grind these minerals into the paper. What I got surprised me, and when after research found the rustic Flamingo I was very excited and work non-stop 20 hours a day to get it finished. I had taken a few classes in artist painting and used a few of the old masters recommendations So very glad you enjoyed the Island Red. Scotty.
