I love milkweed pods,as a child I always pulled them apart and let the silky strands inside drift on the wind as I am sure lots of others did.
Artist Reply: Ruth, I grew up during WWII and as a Boy Scout we collected this silk ( which was called Kapok) and it was used to fill Life Preservers.
