Artist Bio

I paint what I love, and I love what I paint. I've had extremely diverse subject matter in the past, and I find that as I grow as an artist, I'm narrowing down the vast field into three main categories: oceans, flowers, and mountains.

Oceans are my favorite places in the entire world. There is no other feeling as awesome as the salt water drying on your skin...the sand under your toes (and everywhere else!)...the sun beating down on you and warming your bones...and the ocean air blowing through your hair. I live in Georgia, USA, so I feel lucky that I'm close to several beaches. A few hours in a car, and I can be at one of many beaches in GA or FL. Oh, and the fine white sand of the Gulf Coast!! Also the crystal clear water of the Caribbean!! These are truly some of the most amazing creations on this planet! Not that I'm picky...I haven't met a beach yet that I didn't like.

Flowers are pretty. That's it. That's why I paint them. Well, and their zest for life, I suppose. I also love to grow flowers, and to see the way they take off and create beauty, it seems, just for me, is awe-inspiring. With just some sun and water, and some TLC from yours truly, they just don't stop until the weather tells them it's over. Flowers don't struggle to grow. Their life is effortless, and enjoyable, and beautiful. And some of them even smell good! So it's no wonder that I enjoy painting flowers. There is a lot to be said for the old adage, "Stop and smell the roses." Only in my case, I paint them as well!

Then we have mountains. This is more of a newfound love of mine. Oceans and flowers have been a passion of mine since birth, but I've been introduced to the mountains more in the past handful of years, and I'm really digging them! I just never gave them much thought before, took them for granted, if you will. However, as my grandparents lived in the mountains of Tennessee when I was a child, I do have very fond memories of driving through the Great Smokey Mountains in my granddaddy's Cadillac. He always drove a little too fast, and I loved it. My husband loves being in the mountains the way I love being at the beach. And just as with the beach, we are close enough to TN and NC to get our mountain fix in with just a few hours in the car. Man, have I lucked out, or what?!?

So, anyhoo, there's a little about me, what I paint, and why. Contact me anytime with questions, or just to chat. I like to talk (ya think?!?).
