Artist Bio

Candi Williams is a living expression of artistic diversity. She was born an raised in Harlem NY, the nucleus of black culture. Her artistic talent was recognized by her third grade teacher who then sent her to a summer art program at Pratt Institute, located in downtown Brooklyn. Ms. Williams worked for District 23K for seventeen years. During those seventeen years, nine years were spent working with gifted and talented children in the areas of art and dance. She moved on to District 28Q where she was given an oppurtunity to work in a summer arts program which has now become an annual camp. She works with children of all nationalities, especially African American, Asian, Hispanic, and Russian children. She demonstrates how art can be created through the use of various kinds of everyday materials. Ms. Williams has won several awards for her artistic creativity, including a Proclamation given by District 23K. Presently Ms. Williams is working on several artistic projects which include the use of various unusual mediums such as sand, lentils, straight pins, yarn, embroidery thread, lace, beads, and African prints. She is looking forward to sharing her artistic work with the public.
