Self Portrait

Nat Millis fell in love with the wild coast of Oregon when she moved here in 1997. She first learned to love the ocean and nature from her mother Ann. She feels that painting the fragile beauty of our world is a way of observing and honoring the sublimity of nature. Nat Millis studied art at the Maryland Institute of Art in Baltimore, MD, and finished her AB in Fine Arts, Painting, at California State University Fresno. Later, after a stint as a seamstress in Los Angeles she went to Carnegie Mellon and earned an MFA in costume design. She worked all over the US as a costume designer and teacher and all the while painted portraits of those closest to her.
