Working on a portrait. It's been very cold here. I traveled to Texas and saw the King Tut exhibit in Dallas and the Ice sculptures in the Gaylord Texan Hotel in the "ICE" art exhibition. It was 9 degrees in the exhibit. Took lots of photos.

11/30/2008 Seasons have changed. I sold one of my photos of the sunset on the Arkansas River called "God's Artistic Touch" It was displayed at the Fort Smith Art Center. Now it will be in a hospital. Hopefully those who view it will see the beauty and peace of our area. Got accepted into the Art Wanted calendar. Looking forward to the holidays and working on some new oils. Beautiful season to see the beauty in God's world and to be able to share it on line with everyone. Have a blessed holiday season everyone........

Beautiful fall with the crispness and the colors. I have been going every weekend and trying to capture the colors and the beauty. It changes so quickly. I know how the impressionists felt when they had to adjust the lighting. I entered 2 of my photos in my first phototgraphy competition. It has been fun.

Won 6 blue ribbons on my art. It was neat to see it hang at the fair and the the response it got from onlookers. Getting ready to enjoy our beautiful fall in Arkansas and surrounding area. I love the crisp air and the beautiful colors. Busy teaching and enjoy seeing art created. It amazes me what comes from the mind. I hope I can always see with child like eyes and put down my feelings and never paint just to sell.

Just returned from the Buffalo River National Park area in Arkansas. So many beautiful places to inspire an artist. I saw bull elks and old barns with such character. A multitude of butterflies were there and hummingbirds. I stayed at Mountain Springs in a cabin on a mountain. Wonderful view and in many places waterfalls that cascade down cliffs. So new ideas for art from my photography and a refreshing of my soul..

wow summer has flown by. I enjoyed going to Padre Island in the Gulf of Mexico and painting en plein air on the beach......I had real sand in the pastels I'm sure lol. I took lots of pictures in Texas and have posted some. I finally captured a rainbow while I was in a speeding car. lol Now I have a goal to capture lightning. It may take a long time,... I did get a butterfly yesterday. I'm enjoying photography so much and having fun with my art..... working on a competition now and so back to the hard work........

Well, summer has returned. It was a great spring capturing images of my beautiful area. It's so inspiring and makes me want to paint. I just finished a class in oils to refresh my learning and to begin some new pieces. Yet I still love pastels and I have such a feel for them. There is a real freedom of drawing with them. I'm still learning to "see" and try not to rely on photos even my own. I just finished my "grapefruit" pastel and it was hard to draw it looked so delicious. lol I've accepted a part time postion to teach next school year because I love seeing students learn and create. So a new adventure begins. There are so many wonderful artists on here from all over the world. Each area of the world has it's own unique beauty and each artist their own style. I really appreciate the compliments from my fellow artists and they help me realize my strengths and weaknesses. I know that most great artists expressed their feelings and painted the things around them.To be compared to them in comments is an honor. There are many really fine artists and photographers on this site and each is fantastic in their style. So, the journey into art continues as we share our styles and creations.

Well It's been a busy week. I received a picture of a family store I painted years ago and uploaded to the internet. It's amazing the painting is in Tennessee now and yet with technology everyone can see it. It's a legacy that the family can pass down for generations. The cat asleep in the box made the Top Ten in Fine Art and that was thrilling. Thank you MIke for allowing me to make "Fatcat" famous. He is a character. It's wonderful to get comments and have fun on this site. So many wonderful artists. ART is alive and well. Art enriches our lives and as someone said on here "Inspiration is of God and feeds the Soul". I feel so blessed to be able to express emotions and feelings through my art. It's amazing to have the opportunity to document some wonderful places through photography and paint and brushes. I am truly overwhelmed.
